The Best Legacy

 Children are torn apart and the very
foundation of our society is at a grave danger of being destroyed because of
the disintegration of family life. John’s father died at the age of
seventy-eight. His mother had passed away a few years earlier. After the
funeral of his father, the people at the nursing home brought John a bag that
contained his father’s personal belonging. At the bottom of the bag there was a
small plastic zipper bag that contained his dad’s wedding ring. John now keeps
that ring on his dressing table and looks at it every day to remind him of his
parents’ faithfulness to each other for over fifty years. Theirs was a happy
and loving family. Of course, like any other family, they too had problems, but
that never for a moment dimmed their love for each other. His parents were the
life partners God had joined and would never separate until death. For John
this legacy of his parents is the best inheritance he would ever dream of. John
now looks at that ring and prays every day that he also become the kind of
husband and father that his dad was. The wedding ring that he got from his
father after his death was only a symbol, but the life of love and faithfulness,
understanding and acceptance his father and mother lived was both a legacy and
an inheritance for John.

in holy matrimony. He empowers them to live their married life with love,
understanding and acceptance. What God has joined, man/woman has no right to
separate. Today divorces have become a fashion. For trivial reasons and
slightest inconveniences, people file for divorce. Families are broken, chi

best inheritance that anyone can leave for his or her children is not material
property and wealth, but the example of a strong family with a morally and
spiritually sound character. Such a legacy has more power and more value than
anything else in this world.
